Any hard drive can have "password protection" if you use the right software - "password protection" software from the hard drive manufacturer is usually poor and insecure.

If you trust Microsoft, you can encrypt a hard drive with BitLocker (available in Enterprise/Ultimate versions of Vista/7 or Pro/Enterprise versions of 8/8.1/10).
