Hello together I wanted to ask if it is advisable to connect a second monitor to the iMac 24" because of the quality difference of the monitor because with 4,5 k the one of the iMac is quite sharp because I would only connect one that has 4k or would it be better to use a Mac mini with the two matching monitors?

Helpful answer

That's not so easy to answer, because the iMac has a resolution of 4480 x 2520 at 218 ppi. To avoid eye strain, I would use something externally that has at least a UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution; these screens are quite cheap, around 300 francs. However, at 27 inches they have a PPI value of 163, which would make the iMac panel smaller and sharper. I think because of the difference between internal and external screen resolution, the Mac Mini solution with two additional UHD screens would be more optimal.
