Hello zäme before I go crazy: for a week now I've been trying to get the Sony MDR-HW700DS Wireless to work with my Marantz 1605 AV receiver - NO sound! I'm following Sony's instructions with a sketch to the letter: BlueRay, AppleTV, via HDMI to the receiver, then via HDMI-ARC via Sony processor through to the LG: it just doesn't work! Video ok, audio nothing! Optical cable passed through-also nothing. I have searched countless forums (Germany, UK, USA), tried countless settings... The only success: my LG OLED works separately from the receiver via optical cable, otherwise the processor just reports "no stream". Marantz instructions don't help either. I am actually technically gifted ;-) Has anyone had any success? You can't return headphones because they are unpacked and used. You don't notice that beforehand...I'm grateful for any tips!

...return at Digitec is possible within 30 days with -10% of the purchase price, or warranty exchange because something seems to be defective to me. :)

In terms of setup, is your goal to switch between the headphones and the receiver? ;)
Since the audio signal is routed through the Marantz first: make sure that the audio is also output at the HDMI port and not from the receiver. It is also imperative to deactivate the ARC function on the Marantz! --> ARC should only be activated on the MDR-HW700DS. Also check for firmware updates on all connected devices.

I have had some interesting experiences with ARC, as I have to turn the volume up very high on my receiver to use it (when sound is sent from the TV to the receiver via ARC).
I have therefore installed a 4:2 HDMI matrix in my home as a switch or splitter, in order to direct the sound to two devices at the same time, regardless of the source. From the TV, I use the optical digital S/PDIF output to send sound directly to the receiver. Since my devices do not support eARC, this is also sufficient for stereo sound and Dolby Digital and DTS coding.
