Hi guys, according to the specifications, max. 3466 Mhz OC is supported. That means a memory with 3600 Mhz makes no sense? I am looking to build a PC with this motherboard + Ryzen 2700X and Corsair Platinum RGB (4x 8GB, DDR4-3200), is this memory compatible with this motherboard? Thank you in advance. LG

Helpful answer

The specifications on the MANUFACTURER websites are decisive:

Starting from ASUS:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboar...

AMD Ryzen™ 2nd Generation Processors
4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB;
DDR4 3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/......MHz Un-buffered Memory

However:
Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics/ Athlon™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics/ Ryzen™ 1st Generation Processors.
4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB;
DDR4 3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C)........ MHz Un-buffered Memory

Under the conditions:
AMD 7th Generation A-Series/Athlon X4 Processors
4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 2400/2133 MHz Un-buffered Memory
the selection is further limited.

Sets consisting of 4x 8GB RAM are listed up to a maximum of DDR4 3000, see:
Version -2019/02/25 update 707.62 KBytes
ROG_STRIX_X470-F_GAMING_Memory_Qvl
ROG STRIX X470-F GAMING Memory QVL - Ryzen™ 2nd Generation Processors.
See table section DDR4 3000 Qualified Vendors List (QVL).
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub...

to note Note at the very end of the table:
"* Do not combine DIMMs from multiple kits-even ones of the same make and model. Mixing and matching DIMMs can result in failure to boot."

The RAM set Corsair Platinum RGB (4x 8GB, DDR4-3200) is not listed at ASUS (as of 2019/02/25).

Regarding the question: Mainboard 3466 MHz(OC) and RAM 3600MHz:
Mainboard and processor are fully utilised and thus get very warm; RAM is clocked down a bit but is under voltage at 1.35V. Therefore, a gentle effect through the "downclocking" is hardly to be expected.

From Corsair:
https://www.corsair.com/us...

Under RAM Set Corsair DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz several sets are listed, which differ in CL.

If these very new RAM sets are meant, then it could work (without guarantee).

Possible reason for the difference QVL ASUS and QVL Corsair:
ASUS might not have been able to test this set yet and include it in the QVL.
