I only have a SATA-II 3.0Gb/s interface, will it work or does it have to be SATA-III?

Sata 2 also works.

However, the SSD speed will not exceed 300MB/s as this is the speed limit of SATA 2.

I have checked again on the internet. It should actually work without problems except for the speed, which will be less.

Yes, that works. SATA-III is backwards compatible with SATA-II/I.
