Is the SSD compatible with iPad Pro 11

I have not tested this myself. However, if the SSD is formatted correctly, this should not be a problem.

Exactly. Format it correctly and it works very well with the Photos and Files app. I use the iPad Pro 2020 12.9" with this drive for photography on the road. I can therefore do without a MacBook pro.
