One of its finest features is the even heat distribution all the way to the rim and the lid. Lodge America's Original Cookware delivers on its promise – for a lifetime! The cast products are pre-seasoned and oiled, making them ready to use right away.

A Dutch oven is a thick-walled cooking pot made of cast iron with a tightly fitting lid. In Australia, it is called a "Camp oven," "Cocotte" in France, "casserole dish" in England, "Potje" in South Africa, and "Sac" in the Baltic countries.

The pot has three feet for cooking over an open fire. Cast iron has the advantage of very high thermal conductivity and is excellent for searing.

This model is the Boy Scouts of America version with the logo on the lid.
