Hello Delpe, the Noco Boost X GBX45 is suitable for all lead batteries. Lead batteries are the classic wet battery ("Wet", you have to refill with distilled water) and then all maintenance-free batteries such as Gel, MF, EFB and AGM. So your AGM battery is also a lead-acid battery and the Noco Boost X GBX is ideally suited for it! The lead-acid battery types that can be used with the Noco Boost X GBX45 are indicated on the front of the data sheet (bottom right).

If you want to use the booster purely as a power bank, there are probably more sensible alternatives, as the device weighs over a kilo and is a huge lump (designed for a very high output current, but relatively low capacity). But if there is no other power source available, the booster is certainly not a bad option! I would certainly not call the option a gimmick!
