The most popular wood-based panels in furniture construction are the so-called MDF boards. MDF stands for medium-density fibers, meaning they are very fine-pored and homogeneous furniture boards, whose edges, unlike particle boards or coarse particle boards, can be screwed and nailed. However, MDF boards tend to warp or split at the edges when screws are driven into non-pre-drilled edges. To prevent this, we have developed SPAX-M: the combination of a CUT tip that essentially drills its own screw hole, a razor-sharp wave profile, and a small 75° milling head for flush screw sinking ensures that you can easily screw your MDF components together. However, we recommend maintaining a minimum edge distance of 25 mm from the panel edge even when using SPAX-M. This means for you: secure edge fastening, no splitting of the panel edges.
