Sony has just unveiled these new Playstation games

Translation: machine translated

Sony presents new PS5 games in a "State of Play" livestream. There are also a few surprises among them.

2024 and 2025 will be good years for Playstation fans. In the 40-minute "State of Play" livestream, Sony presented some new hits for its console. You should make a note of these PS5 games

"Death Stranding 2: On the Beach": Ten minutes of madness

The award for the longest trailer in the "State of Play" stream goes to "Death Stranding 2". And probably also the award for the craziest trailer. In typical Kojima style, the ten-minute video shows a lot but reveals very little. Sam Bridges is back and has to connect new areas of the world to the "chiral network". He is now accompanied by a talking puppet (?!).

Higgs, the villain from the first instalment, is also back and looks like a Kiss band member. You can also see new means of transport and environmental disasters in nature. The game looks really "next gen" and impresses with its beautiful landscapes. You'll have to be patient a little longer until the release.

  • Date: 2025
  • Released for: PS5

"PHYSINT": Spiritual successor to "Metal Gear Solid"

Completely surprisingly, Hermen Hulst, Head of Playstation Studios, has announced a second game for Playstation platforms together with Hideo Kojima. "PHYSINT" is to be an "action espionage" game. Although Kojima does not mention it explicitly, it is a spiritual successor to his "Metal Gear Solid" games.

The project is still at an early stage of development. It is intended to blur the boundaries between films and games. The announcement ends with another surprise: a drone flight reveals that Kojima and Hulst are in a Columbia Pictures film studio. I wonder what that means?

  • Date: unknown
  • Comes out for: some Playstation platform from the future

"Rise of the Ronin": New fodder for "Ghost of Tsushima" fans

The samurai action adventure game reveals a new trailer. "Rise of the Ronin" is set in Japan during the Bakumatsu period. The country has opened up to the West and imported numerous technologies

The trailer shows katana duels that are reminiscent of "Ghost of Tsushima" with their different fighting styles. In addition to katanas, you can also use firearms from the West in combat. The trailer also shows exciting means of transport, such as a paraglider, which you can seamlessly combine with other companions. It certainly looks promising.

  • Date: 22 March
  • Released for PS5

"Stellar Blade": Post-apocalyptic action with a unique design

In this post-apocalyptic action adventure game, you play as Eve and must save humanity from extinction. The scantily clad protagonist fights her way through monster-infested desert landscapes on her adventure

The game is being developed by Korean developer studio Shift Up with the support of Playstation Studios. The trailer is particularly impressive with its great character and enemy design and beautiful graphics.

  • Released for: PS5

"Judas": New immersive sim from the "Bioshock" creator

Ken Levine, the creator of the "Bioshock" games, is back with a trailer for his new project "Judas". Surprise: the game looks like "Bioshock". You can see lots of crazy superpowers combined with firearms.

According to insider reports, the game has had a turbulent development period. The first gameplay impressions at least look promising.

  • Date: unknown
  • Released for: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

"Silent Hill: The Short Message": Available now

Surprise! The new "Silent Hill" game "The Short Message" is now available for PS5. And as a free download. What's the catch? No idea, the game looks very good, at least in the trailer.

The Short Message is played from a first-person perspective. The focus of the psychological horror game is on the negative effects of modern social media and messaging apps. Armed with a smartphone, the game's protagonist has to fight her way through her nightmares that have come true.

  • Date: as of now
  • Released for: PS5

"Silent Hill 2": Remake of the horror classic

The previously announced remake of the PS2 classic receives its first gameplay trailer. The game is being developed by horror game studio Bloober Team. Silent Hill 2 is now played from a third-person perspective. Graphically, the whole thing looks rather unspectacular.

  • Date: unknown
  • Released for: PS5, PC

"Until Dawn": And another horror remake

The cult PS4 teen horror game "Until Dawn" is also getting a remake. In the game, you decide which teen survives and who is brutally murdered by the killer. Was a remake necessary? No. Am I still looking forward to it? Yes.

  • Date: 2024
  • Released for: PS5, PC

"Dragon's Dogma 2": This smells like a hit

Capcom's action RPG is revealed in a new trailer. It looks fantastic. You can expect spectacularly staged battles against huge monsters in a chic high-fantasy setting. I don't need to see any more of the game to know that it's going to be a hit and I'm looking forward to its imminent release.

  • Date: 22 March
  • Released for: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

"Sonic X Shadow Generations": New and old in one package

The game is a remaster of "Sonic Generations", which was released in 2011. In this game, both classic 2D and modern 3D levels were packed into one "Sonic" package. Shadow also gets his own level in the new edition.

"Metro Awakening VR": Finally something for the PS VR2

Sony has not completely forgotten its VR glasses. In the livestream, developer studio Vertigo Games shows a first trailer for a new "Metro" spin-off. "Awakening" is played entirely in VR and looks phenomenal. The studio recently released the colourful VR shooter "Arizone Sunshine II"

  • Date: 2024
  • Released for: PS VR2, Meta Quest, PC

Other trailers that were shown

In addition to the major highlights, smaller titles and ports of previously released games were also shown.
