Yes, a cable is included that is also sufficiently fast, provided the computer has a USB 3.2 connection (with 10 Gbit/s). With a normal USB 3.0 connection, the speed is somewhat lower due to the system, but this has nothing to do with the cable but with the overhead of USB communication. By the way, the cable comes with an adapter so that both USB-C and USB-A (conventional) connections can be used.
In theory, this should be possible (https://praxistipps.chip.de/xbox-one-externe-festplatte-anschliessen_38683). However, since the hard disk must then be formatted, I cannot try this out at the moment, as I cannot store the data elsewhere on my Extreme Portable at the moment.
Hi, Yes, this is done via the SecureAccess software from SanDisk. See: https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2399/
Works for me without any problems.
Hi Ray. I think I've answered that question for you :-) Didn't I? Greetings - adi
I have been using it as an external SSD since the PS5 release and have had no problems so far. However, only PS4 games can be installed on it. That is the PS's default setting. PS5 games must be installed on the internal memory.
Sounds like USB interference. Sometimes happens with poorly shielded ports. Do you have the option of plugging the SSD or the Logitech wireless receiver into a different port away from each other?
Yup, has a folder that you can protect with a password.
Hi Why does it have to be exactly this cable ? Not even sandisk itself offers the cable separately. choose one ;D filters are set https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/producttype/usb-kabel-292?pdo=1237-9576%3A282441%7C1237-9524%3A325484%7C1237-9525%3A428479&tagIds=77-532 Greetings
Actually, SanDisk described the 550 MB/s as the data transfer rate. Internally, a SATA interface was still used, which is how the limit comes about. + I don't notice any difference between reading and writing when I use the device. I have not tested this either. - The SSD gets warm in use (not hot) but is otherwise very pleasant to take with you every day. + Has a USB type A to C adapter See: https://www.computerbase.de/2020-09/tragbare-ssds-sandisk-extreme-pro-refresh-mehr-geschwindigkeit/ But there is a new "Pro" version that is even faster thanks to NVME: old: Sandisk Extreme Portable (2000GB) new: Sandisk Extreme Pro Portable (2000GB)
Hi What are bigger files for you? LG Florin
As far as I know, this is just a normal USB-C cable. The same cable as for every new mobile phone (except Apple).
Also works with other cables. Then, of course, you can buy one with the right ends and no longer need a small adapter. You can buy the small adapter separately
It's better to buy a cheap normal HDD with 4TB for less. SSD only has a mini influence on the speed. Hardly noticeable with many games.
The cable is not included.
The PRO has a read speed of up to 1050MB/s, but write speed may be lower. But you need the right hardware on the other side (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, 1800MB/s or USB 2.1 Gen 2, 900MB/s).
A few weeks ago, the price at digitec was also around 300... Who knows what happened there.
Good day, I use exactly this model and have several operating systems on it because I need them for work. But not virtually, but really directly on it and then start directly via this external SSD. Performance-wise I don't notice any difference, I assume that it should work just as well for you. Kind regards Niklas
There are a few things to consider when operating an SSD in a NAS. In principle, SSDs can be used for these purposes. However, you must check whether the SSD in question is designed for such continuous operation (especially because of the number of write cycles). You should also check whether the respective device supports the SSD (-> check the manufacturer's page of the Swisscom box or ask Swisscom directly). Here is another article that "scratches the surface" on the subject of NAS and SSD. What I noticed with my Sandisk Exteme Portable is that it gets relatively warm (warmer) compared to other SSDs I have when it is used intensively (reading/writing). However, I use the SSD on my laptop for image editing. So far I'm very satisfied with it, but I can't say anything about wear and tear or lifespan.
It is perfectly possible to save the games on this external hard drive. However, this can lead to errors with individual games. But these are the fewest. Make sure that the hard disk is formatted to NFTS and not to Fat32. To avoid errors, however, I would recommend a permanently installed one.
