The warranty extension is not AppleCare. It is also not an insurance policy, Digitec guarantees with the warranty extension that damage will be repaired or replaced free of charge even outside the regular 2-year warranty if the buyer is not at fault.

I can't say for the homepods specifically, but for other Apple products it's always a Digitec-own story that can't really be compared to the AppleCare experience.

Then again: The homepods are currently grey imports anyway - Apple doesn't sell them in Switzerland yet and therefore no AppleCare.
