If I take it apart and install better components such as a gaming motherboard, ram and my processor, will the warranty lapse? Or are the components individually guaranteed anyway? And in case of failure of one of the components (e.g. video card), do I have to send the whole PC, or just the damaged component (card)?

The warranty is lost if any work is done on the computer. If you still want to do this and one of the added components no longer works, you will have to send it separately, as it is not part of the basic package.
