Question about Steffen Digital timer

I think I'm too stupid. Switching off manually works. Automatic mode does not. It should be quite simple. Shouldn't it be easy to enter the time when the unit is switched on in programme 1 On and the time when it is switched off in programme 1 Off? If I then switch to Auto on or off, the whole thing always stays on or off. Is it defective or too stupid to set?

I had the same problem and also solved it when, after setting the programme in an unintuitive way, you have to keep pressing Menu until you reach the Rnd position as follows

I have several Steffen time switches: Initially they work fine, then suddenly they no longer switch off (to AUTO OFF or OFF). The current continues to flow even when OFF. Resetting does not help any more. Off to the dustbin!
