Product details
A rich, dark brown pigment, burnt umber, is derived from natural brown clays found in the earth. It is named after Umbria, a region in Italy where it was mined. The burning of the raw pigment intensifies its color.
Our professional watercolors continue to be formulated according to our founding principles: to create unparalleled colors that offer artists the greatest and most balanced selection of pigments, just as it was in 1835 when William Winsor and Henry Newton introduced the world's first moist watercolors.
A wide selection of single-pigment colors. Our range uses only the finest pigments, which is why they are known for their brilliance, permanence, and color intensity. With 79 single-pigment colors, we offer the largest selection of modern and traditional pigments.
Unmatched transparency. Formulated using the highest quality methods to achieve optimal pigment distribution, our unmatched transparency means that every wash remains vibrant and luminous.
Lightfast and durable. 104 out of 108 colors in the professional watercolor line are rated AA or A for permanence, ensuring that the colors used today will look the same for generations to come.
Create your own palette of granulating colors. Many artists appreciate granulation to achieve texture on paper. Discover some of our beautiful granulating colors to build your palette and learn more about minimizing and maximizing this effect.
Tone, shade, and supergranulate your palette. Our professional watercolor line offers more than 30 lightfast and durable granular single-pigment colors. Try some of these colors; tone and shade them, and mix them to create extraordinary supergranulated colors.
